Pottery Style
Works in the Anglo-Japanese tradition of stoneware pottery. All work is original and hand made by Chris, the majority being wheel thrown. Many different sorts of pottery are made mostly on commission however in recent times wash basins have become a major item. All the glazes are made from traditional recipes gathered over the years.
This text intentionally hidden. It was part of the original text but I removed it to make space for the teaching bit below. I kept it just incase daddy asks for it back again. The decoration is by brushwork, wax, and textured glazes. Being located in Africa often local birds, plants, fish and animals are used as decoritive motifs. Many of these are collectors items, all signed by the potter.
Pottery Classes
Chris also teaches one day a week at his studio on the west rand. Classes consist of small sociable groups of students at all levels interested in learning traditional handcraft pottery. Anyone interested in joining in should phone or email Chris. New potters welcome.
